Captions and quotes
Italic a cited line and keep your own words plain. A whole caption in math italic is tiring. Hashtags stay A–Z. Quoted lyrics in italic Unicode can still be copied by fans. That is a feature and a copyright problem — only paste text you have the right to share.
Bios and display names
A short italic tagline under a plain name. Display-name fields are short — serif italic at 30 characters can still scan. Do not italic the handle. A display name in italic plus a plain @handle is the usual split. Do not italic both; the handle will fail.
Discord
Channel messages can use Markdown. Nicknames cannot. This italic text generator is for the nickname and for apps without Markdown. Login usernames stay ASCII. If a server uses a bot that strips “fancy nicks,” italic math letters are often in the same filter as bold. Ask before you restyle a whole clan.
Design mockups
Paste italic Unicode into a wireframe when you cannot load a real italic cut. For print, use an actual italic font file so kerning and language coverage are correct. If a client wants “the italic version” of a logo word, Unicode italic is a sketch. Final files need a real italic cut with kerning. For a slide deck sent as PDF, embed a real italic face. Unicode italic can substitute in a pinch, then look different on the client’s projector font set.
